MASTERING THE POWER OF SELF HYPNOSIS A Practical Workshop to Self-Empowerment

Hypnosis Works! is proud to announce a series of workshops that teaches how to use the Power of Thoughts to set and achieve goals.

We all have within us the ability to create whatever we wish. Most of us use this incredible power to create negative things, like poverty, bad luck, sadness, depression and anxiety. We mostly do it without even being aware of it.

How would you use that to create prosperity, wealth and abundance in every aspect of your life? Just imagine improving your studies to get better results, or for your work, increasing your earnings beyond your wildest dreams.

Most people travel through life without a roadmap, not sure of the destination and even more unsure of how to get there. What would the difference be if you knew exactly what you wanted, what was the most important, and were shown a simple yet effective method to get what you want?

By Mastering the Power of Self-Hypnosis, you will get the tools you need to drastically improve your life. This practical workshop for self-empowerment is based on Roy Hunter’s excellent book and will give you practical methods that you can incorporate in your daily life. Twice a Year

HYPNOSIS AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR

How many times a year do you go and see your doctor? Do you wait until you get sick and then you go? And when the doc gives you medicine and it does not work, do you say that you will never go back because the treatment didn’t work?

How many times a year do you go and see your dentist? Do you go twice a year as recommended, or do you wait for that toothache to keep you awake before you make an appointment?

And how many times a year do you go and see your local Hypnotherapist? Have you ever been to see one? Or do you exhaust all your other options first before you decide that this would be the last thing you try? And if it does not quite work the first time, do you just give up? And do you expect to solve a lifetime’s worth of problems with just one session of an hour?

Hypnosis is becoming more accepted as it starts losing all the negative connotations attached to it. Continuing research is proving again and again that Hypnosis can be effective for a great number of physical, emotional and psychological problems. It works relatively quickly, is drug free, utilises the client’s inner resources and can have lasting positive benefits.

Going for an operation? Hypnosis before the time could prepare your body to cope better and heal faster! Need anaesthetic? In some instances you could use hypnosis instead and manage your own pain levels. Suffering from chronic pain? You could take charge and relieve your pain substantially using hypnosis.

How about planning your life, setting goals and achieving them? Hypnosis works very well for this, especially if you learn self-hypnosis techniques, learn how to develop affirmations to attain your goals.

Still a smoker? Still struggling with weight issues? Still suffering from stress and tension, anxiety or depression? Here’s some surprising information: Hypnosis Works!

You have two choices when it comes to your health and well-being: Either you can wait until the problem strikes and you need a cure, or you could take precaution and ensure that you look after yourself so that you stay healthy, physically, emotionally and mentally.

And does it surprise you to hear that Hypnosis could be a very useful tool both to solve problems as well as prevent them? Well, it shouldn’t. Just do some Googling and look at the number of people worldwide who practice Hypnosis, look at all the research, look at all the solutions available to you.

Use Hypnosis to solve the problems. Use Hypnosis to prevent problems.

So here is my tip of the day: Go and meet your local Hypnotherapist, learn how to go into Hypnosis, learn some self-hypnosis skills; and then go and see him or her at least twice a year, both to work on solving issues and preventing new ones from occurring in your life.
Because it’s true: Hypnosis Works!

Time to Change?

I want to change! (But not yet…)

“Change is hard. Change takes time. Change is something I want to do, but not today. I can’t change!”
Ever heard yourself say these words? Have you wanted to improve aspects of your life, and not known where to start?
I saw a man in the shop last week, buying cigarettes, looking so disgusted with himself for once again having to spend his hard earned money on this vile habit. When I had finished paying for my bread and milk, I asked him if he was ready to stop smoking. He looked at me in surprise and said: “Yes, but I do not know how.”
Change can be very hard if you have no idea what it is you want to change, or if you just have some vague idea of where you are going with your life. Without a clear route map and action plan, you most probably will be stuck where you are, and before you know it, 2014 will be here and you will have wasted another year doing the same things you have always done.
Isn’t it time to seriously start contemplating those real changes and making the effort to achieve them? Luckily you are not alone when it comes to changing yourself for the better, there are expert change agents who can help you achieve your outcomes. They are called hypnotists.
Now I know that you most probably have negative connotations to this word “hypnotist”, you have seen those shows on TV or stage where people cluck like chickens, and you are scared of losing control or of having someone else “scratch around in my mind”.
First of all, hypnosis practitioners are caring, wonderful people who really want to help you achieve your goals. They have some really useful skills that could be beneficial to you, that could fast-track  your fears and misconceptions about hypnosis are misguided, ideas that have been shaped by the media and that really have no substance.
I am sure you may have heard of people who have successfully stopped smoking using hypnosis. Or maybe you have met somebody who has reduced their weight using the power of their subconscious mind during a hypnotic session. Did you know that hypnosis can work wonders for your self confidence, that it can drastically reduce your stress levels and be beneficial for so many issues and complaints?
Perhaps the time has come to stop resisting your own inner change, perhaps the time has come for you to plan your life and achieve your goals. And perhaps you should give hypnosis the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps that time is now.
You have the power to change. And you can do that now. Visit your nearest hypnotist and find out how you can be helped to do this.

Why am I so fat?

South Africans are among the world's fattest people.

"The rainbow nation is 'eating itself slowly to death', according to the drug and health care company GlaxoSmithKline, which says 61% of South Africans are overweight, obese or morbidly obese.

"Despite the country's sporty reputation and the prevalence of gyms in cities such as Johannesburg, the research found that 49% of South Africans do not exercise and 71% have never dieted. Most worryingly, 17% of children under nine are overweight."

As a non-medical hypnotherapist, I have seen my fair share of overweight, obese and even morbidly obese clients. They all have one thing in common: After years and years of unhealthy living, overeating and not exercising, they expect to magically lose the weight after just one session. F,or every twenty queries I receive, I probably get only one client to commit to a weight reduction programme. Very few are willing to do what it takes to reduce the weight safely and permanently. And most have no idea as to the reason why they got so fat in the first place.

Did you know that all that extra weight on your body is most probably a way of your subconscious mind protecting you?

Yes, it may be true. Perhaps something happened to you many years ago, something that you may not even be consciously aware of, that is causing the weight to pile on. Looking at South African history, it is no wonder that the subconscious has had to do this protection work, there are so many bad things that happened to us that we all needed protection in one way or the other.

Perhaps the burden of being oppressed under Apartheid took its toll, or being forced to spend two years in the army under the conscription campaign had a negative impact. Sexual and emotional abuse, neglect, divorce, the list goes on and on.

And you can go on as many diets as you like, they will not have lasting results while your subconscious mind is trying to protect you in this way. The weight will just yo-yo up and down, causing frustration, heartache and dis-ease. It does not matter that the reasons are no longer valid, the subconscious has not had the opportunity to be "reprogrammed", and so it continues to do work for you that you may no longer need.

How do you permanently reduce your weight? How do you ensure that once the weight is off, it stays off?

Firstly, you may need to go and visit your doctor to find out if there are any medical reasons for the weight. Perhaps the thyroid gland is not working properly, or maybe there are some medications you are taking that is causing the weight gain.

Once you have visited your medical practitioner and you have ascertained that there are no medical reasons holding you back, you now need to sit down and honestly ask yourself if you are prepared to change your lifestyle in order to permanently reduce your weight. Are you really ready to do what it takes to get the weight down and keep it down?

We are all always looking for that magic pill, that quick fix to change years of bad habits, bad diets and bad foods. Sorry to say, if anybody is selling you a quick fix pill, they are not being completely honest with you. (If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.)

In order to permanently reduce your body weight, you are going to have to do three things.

Firstly, you will need a proper eating plan. You are going to have to see a nutritionist or dietitian to show you which foods are the best for you, taking into account your blood type and other factors that might be important when choosing the right foods to eat.

Secondly you are going to have to decide on an exercise regime. Sorry, there is no way around this. Exercise burns fat, makes you fit and sets you on the right path. There are so many ways you could do this. Go to the gym, join a yoga class, run, walk, it does not matter what you do, even if it is just ten minutes a day. Research has consistently shown that exercise not only reduces weight, it also reduces the risk for a range of diseases and conditions, like heart disease and stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, back pain and osteoporosis.

And thirdly, you are going to have to change your mind about your body, your weight and how you believe in and about yourself on a subconscious level. This means you are going to have to go and see your local hypnotherapist to help you find the reason for the weight and help you let go of those reasons. Research has shown that people who use hypnosis for weight reduction may reduce more than three times more weight than those not using hypnosis, while the the hypnosis group continued to get results in the two-year follow-up, while the non-hypnosis group showed no further results (Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985 & Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1986).

You have to realise that participating in a hypnosis programme does not mean that it will just take just one quick session to do. It may take up to 8 sessions or more for you to make that internal, mental shift, as there are several things you may need to work out.

Are you an emotional eater? Do you have an unhealthy relationship with food? Do you make poor food choices? Do you need the motivation to exercise? These are all things that your hypnotist can assist you with. Be prepared, it is going to take time, effort, hard work, determination, blood, sweat and even some tears.

But if you are willing to make the changes, then hypnosis may just be the right tool for you to make a permanent change. And this is what you want, isn't it?

Perhaps the time has come to take a good, hard look at your life, your health and your weight. Time to take charge of your weight, to reduce it safely, moderately and permanently. And if this is what you want, perhaps a call to set up an appointment with your local hypnotherapist might just do the trick!

Hope, Wish and Try

I see smokers almost on a daily basis, and so many of them tell me that they have tried so hard to stop smoking, some of them several times. Other people go through a session with me, I show them everything they need to cut cigarettes from their life, and at the end of the session they say that they will certainly try.

I have been seeing a lady recently who is particularly stuck in life and she just cannot move forward. I taught her a great self-hypnosis technique and instructed her to practice the technique for one week. When I saw her again, I asked her if she had used it. "I tried", she said. When I pressed her she said that she had not used it at all.

Some people wish that their lives would improve, or when they come and see me they say that they hope the hypnosis would work, as they have tried everything else.

I tell all my clients what my late grandmother used to tell me. Ouma Pallie always said: "Wish in one hand, spit in the other, and then see in which hand you have the most."

I said this to a client the other day and he said that the hand the wish was in would have the most! Really???

Now here's the rub. Hope, wish and try imply failure.

I dare you to get into your car in the passenger seat and then say "I wish this car would drive itself. Oh I hope this is going to happen. Let me try very hard..."

You will still be sitting there, wishing very hard, a week from now, in exactly the same spot.

You have two choices . Either you are going to do something, or not.

Either you are going to stop smoking, or you are going to continue. Either you are going to change your diet and start exercising so that the weight can start reducing, or you are not. Either you are going to take a step forward in your life, or you are going to stay in the same place.

Which are you going to do? Are you wishing, hoping and waiting for somebody to come rescue you, to suck the fat out of your body, to remove every lit cigarette from between your lips?

Or are you going to do it yourself by taking charge, by making a decision and sticking with it?

The choice really is yours.

Is there a secret to The Secret?

A few years ago, the book (and movie) of The Secret had the world abuzz. Since it's release it has spawned websites, chat groups, Facebook pages and follow up books. Yesterday I saw that one of the people central to the movie is selling advanced secrets not shown in the movie.

The central aspect of The Secret is the Law of Attraction. The basic premise of this law is that you ask, believe, and you will receive. I wonder how many people have tried to do this and ended up attracting more of the things they do not want, have given up and said "It does not work"?

Let's have a look at this Secret thing and see how it is supposed to work.

The first thing to do is to ask. In order to ask for something, you need to have a very clear goal. And in order to have a specific goal, you need to pull that goal apart into its different components. What do you want? When do you want it? How do you want it? These are the kind of questions you are going to have to ask yourself. In other words, clear goals, attainable goals. Winning the Lotto is not a goal, it's wishful thinking, especially if you never buy a ticket!

The second part is to Ask. Okay, so who do you ask? God? The Universe? Do you just put it out there and hope for the best? Who knows?

And then of course you have to believe, believe that it's possible that you can receive. And how exactly do you do that?

All a bit confusing, this Secret stuff, isn't it? And for these reasons many people have given up using the Secret, because they do not know the secret of The Secret.

So: Is there a secret to The Secret?

I think there is, and it is called the subconscious mind.

Napoleon Hill wrote in his book Think and grow rich: "If you can imagine it, and you can believe it, you can achieve it." I repeat this every day to all of my smoking clients. If you can picture or imagine yourself as a non-smoker, and if you believe that this is your reality, it will become your new reality.

And how do you achieve this? How do you access the power of your subconscious mind?

The secret of the secret of The Secret (!) is to use self-hypnosis, or "creative daydreaming".

First, set the goals. Be very specific what you want. There are many different types of goals, whether they be personal, material, development, short-, medium- or long term. Be as specific as you can be when formulating goals. Make a long list, as many as you can. Take some time out, go sit on a mountain or in a garden or at the sea. Forget about everything else and just dream up your goals.

Now the trick is to prioritise these goals. Number them in order of priority. And now this is where self-hypnosis starts playing an important role. Go into hypnosis, either by yourself or by being guided by a Hypnotist, and let your subconscious mind prioritise the goals. You will be surprised at the difference between the conscious mind's priorities and the priorities assigned to the goals by the subconscious mind. What you thought would be important may now be at the bottom of your list!

What you must understand  is that your subconscious mind knows best! It has vast capabilities and capacities, way beyond our conscious understanding.

Now that you have your goals, comes the second part - Ask. How do you ask?

Again, use self-hypnosis. If you know how to turn your prioritised goals into affirmations, and if you know how to access the power of your imagination, you can ask ten, twenty, thirty times a day. The trick is to imagine that you already have what you are asking for. In other words, believe very strongly that what you ask for is already happening.

So yes, indeed, there is a secret to The Secret. The secret is to use self-hypnosis techniques to achieve your goals. Using the power of your mind and thoughts, you can achieve the seemingly impossible.

Of course it is going to take dedicated effort on your part, but I am sure you have heard it said that nothing is impossible.

Now you may be thinking: "How on earth am I supposed to do all of this? How do I learn self-hypnosis? How do I develop affirmations? How do I do creative daydreaming?"

Your local bookstore may have some wonderful books on the subject, and in particular I would recommend Roy Hunter's Mastering the Power of Self Hypnosis.

Or you can attend a one day workshop presented by Hypnosis Works! in Pretoria in South Africa. This workshop will give you all the inside information, tools, tips and skills you need to radically change your life.

For more information contact Hendrik Baird on info@hypnosis-works.co.za or visit www.hypnosis-works.co.za.

Happy Week!

Happy week to everybody!

I am sure that in South Africa today, most people are back from holiday, the kids are either back at school already or going back this week, and everything is returning back to normal. Perhaps you are back at works today as well.

Time to get back into the groove, time to face reality, time to take stock, implement the plans and get moving. This is the year of opportunity, the year of getting things done, the year of change!

Seeing as the world ended last year, it is also a time for new things, new ways at looking things, new ways of taking care of ourselves and our loved ones, new life. And what better way to do this than to take stock, re-evaluate, plan and implement? What better way than taking a good hard look at all those things that no longer serve us and finding ways to get it out of our lives?

How many times have we promised ourselves to stop smoking, lose weight, earn more money, be happier, have a better relationship with our spouses, children, family and friends. Promised ourselves we will find time to relax, take it easy, beat the stress and tensions of everyday living?

So what is holding you back this time? What excuses have you come up with already? How many of your New Year's Resolutions have you already broken, forgotten about, started blaming yourself for not keeping to?

Isn't it time to change all of that? Is this not the time to take charge of your life, to live the best life you can? Why not decide today that the rest of your life is the best of your life?

You can sit there, change nothing, just keep on doing all the things you have always done, or you can get up, change, bet better, every day, in every way.

Do it now. Make a decision. Do it. Be the best you can possibly be. Realise all your hopes and dreams, reach your full potential and then surpass it. Yes, you can!

Do it today!

Achieving Goals with Self-Hypnosis Workshop

At the beginning of the year, we start fresh, with new hopes and dreams. We fervently scribble our lists of New Year’s Resolutions, only to promptly lose the list and continue as always. Until next year, when we re-evaluate our lives and make new resolutions, only to lose the list again.

Years go by and we never get to make those changes.

What changes do you want to make? What are your goals and aspirations? And more importantly, how are you going to ensure that they become a reality?

Self-hypnosis is one of the most powerful tools available to man to help with setting goals and achieving them. Unfortunately hypnosis has a very bad reputation due to the way it has been portrayed in popular culture, and so very few people know that they could potentially reach their dreams and goals with just a few simple daily exercises of self-hypnosis.

It really is a crime that hypnosis is not taught in schools from a very early age, because it could be a powerful tool to use, not only in school, but also for the rest of our lives. And so, sadly, almost nobody understands how to use this tool to their advantage.

This is all about to change. At Hypnosis Works! in Pretoria, it has become very important to teach self-hypnosis to as many people as possible. The message is simple: You can make your dreams a reality, and the techniques to do so are actually very easy to learn.

A series of workshops will be held during 2013 to start this process of empowerment and self-development. Starting on 20 January, the first of these workshops will be held and it will be repeated every second month for the foreseeable future.
The workshop takes place over one day and at the moment ten people can be accommodated per workshop. It is usually held on a Sunday, in the peaceful surrounds of the Hypnosis Works! Hypnotherapy Practice in Villieria, Pretoria.

The day starts at 09h00 and ends at 17h00, and is filled with a variety of activities to both teach self-hypnosis and help the participants set and prioritise goals. Refreshments and a light vegetarian lunch is included.

The day starts with a general relaxation session to set the tone and prepare the participants for the day. This is followed by a detailed explanation of hypnosis and how it works. The group will then be taught several self-hypnosis techniques and will be given time to practice these new techniques.

This is followed by a session of goal formulation. These goals could be short, medium or long term; they could be personal, material, development or other types of goals, all to be explained in detail at the workshop.

Using the newly taught self-hypnosis techniques, the participants will then have time to prioritise their goals and develop affirmations that will be used daily in order to achieve the goals.

Because of the size of the group, detailed attention can be given to each person, helping them to develop and grow, while answering questions and concerns.

The workshop will be presented by Hendrik Baird, Consulting Hypnotist at Hypnosis Works! Hendrik has been in full time practice for some time and he is passionate about helping people change their lives for the better. Hendrik says: “Self-hypnosis is a powerful method, what a pity so few people know how to harness their dreams and make them a reality.”

The total cost of the full day workshop is only R 750 and can be booked by contacting Hypnosis Works! on www.hypnosis-works.co.za or by emailing info@hypnosis-works.co.za
Workshop dates:

20 January – Launch (English)
